독일 Kassel 지역의 지역 축제, Zissel (Zissel, a local festival in Kassel, Germany)

우기가 있는 것이 아닌데 계속해서 비가 오고 궂은 날씨가 계속되던 어느 날,

회사 단체 채팅창을 통해 Kassel에서 Zissel이라는 축제가 열린다는 소식을 접하게 되었다.

 

One day, when it was raining continuously despite it not being the rainy season, and the weather remained gloomy, I heard through the company group chat that a festival called Zissel was being held in Kassel.

 

나는 핀란드에서 독일로 이주한 이후 계속되는 심각한 우울증으로 삶의 의욕이 거의 바닥이 난 상태에서 이 기분을 좀 나아지게 할 것 같아서 이 축제를 찾기로 결심했었다.

8월 1일 금요일 부터 8월 4일 월요일까지 열렸는데 8월 3일 도심 시가행진이 있다고 해서 오랜만에 도심으로 향했다.

사실, 8월 2일 토요일 오후에 음악 축제가 있었는데 그때 카메라를 들고 길을 나서기는 했다. 비는 계속 쏟아지고 기분도 안좋고 마침 행사장이라고 찾은 곳은 이미 행사가 끝나고 다른 곳에서 계속 행사가 이어졌었다. 집으로 향하는 길에서 만난 뜻밖의 무지개. 난 살면서 실제로 무지개를 본 경험이 거의 없다. 그리고 이렇게 선명한 무지개는 처음이였다.

대충 들고 있던 휴대폰으로 사진을 찍었었고 이렇게 기억에 남겨본다.

 

After moving from Finland to Germany, I suffered from severe depression and lost almost all motivation in life. I decided to attend this festival in hopes that it would lift my spirits.

The festival was held from Friday, August 1, to Monday, August 4. I heard that there would be a parade in the city center on August 3, so I headed downtown for the first time in a long time.

Actually, there was a music festival on Saturday afternoon, August 2, so I took my camera and went out. It was raining heavily, and I was in a bad mood. When I arrived at the venue, the event had already ended, and it was continuing at another location. On my way home, I encountered an unexpected rainbow. I have rarely seen a rainbow in my life, and this was the first time I had seen such a vivid one.

I took a photo with my phone, and I’m sharing it here to preserve the memory.

 

집으로 돌아왔지만 그래도 허전한 마음이 계속되서 토요일 시가 행진을 구경하기로 결정하고 토요일 아침에 집을 나섰다. 흐린 하늘 그리고 간간히 비가 내리는 아침이였다.

I returned home, but still felt empty inside, so I decided to go see the Saturday parade and left home early Saturday morning. It was a cloudy morning with occasional rain.

 

 

Zissel 축제는 독일 북부 헤센주 카셀에서 열리는 민속 축제 입니다. 북헤센의 위대한 고향과 물 축제로 알려져 있습니다.

"Zissel" 이라는 단어는 어떤 독일어 사전 에도 등재되어 있지 않습니다. 언어학자들은 이 단어를 해석하려고 시도했지만, 지금까지는 실패했습니다. 이로 인해 몇 가지 흥미로운 해석이 생겨났습니다. "Zissel"이라는 단어는 슬라브 여신 치셀보르가 와/또는 로마 순교자 키리아쿠스에서 유래했다는 설이 있지만, 이 이론은 면밀한 검토를 거치지 않았습니다. "Zissel" 이 풀다 어부들이 여는 수확 축제 에서 유래했다는 가정 또한 근거 없는 이야기 입니다. "Zisseln"은 저지 독일어에서 유래했을 가능성이 있습니다. "기쁨과 행복의 표시로 돈을 낭비하다"라는 뜻이므로, "Zissel" 이라는 단어는 축하 행사와 삶의 기쁨(joie de vivre)을 의미합니다.

 

The Zissel is a folk festival in the city of Kassel ( Northern Hesse, Germany ). It is known as the great North Hessian homeland and water festival.

The word "Zissel" does not appear in any German dictionary. Linguists have attempted to interpret the word, but their efforts have so far been unsuccessful. This has given rise to some curious interpretations: The word "Zissel" is said to be derived from the Slavic goddess Ciselborga and/or the Roman martyr Cyriacus, but this theory has not stood up to scrutiny. The assumption that "Zissel" originated from a harvest festival held by the Fulda fishermen is also a myth. "Zisseln" may originate from Low German: " to squander money as a sign of joy and happiness," so that the term "Zissel " stands for celebratory activities and joie de vivre.

맨 마지막 행렬은 쓰레기 수거 차량들입니다. 시가 행진 행사를 하면서 발생되는 쓰레기를 맨 뒤에서 수거하고 있습니다.

The last vehicles in the parade are garbage collection trucks. They collect the trash generated during the parade from behind.

 

이렇게 카메라 가방을 메고 밖을 나서본게 대체 얼마만인가!?

늦지 않기 위해 서둘러서 출발했는데 아무래도 출발지점에서 내가 기다리는 지점까지 도착하는데 1시간가량 소모되었다.

날씨가 흐리고 나빴지만 구경나온 인파는 많았다.

 

How long has it been since I went out with my camera bag?

I hurried to avoid being late, but it still took me about an hour to get from the starting point to where I was waiting.

The weather was cloudy and bad, but there were many people out to watch.

 

내가 카메라를 마지막으로 집어든지 수년이 흘러버려서 사진찍는 감을 잃었고 그 결과, 내가 찍은 사진의 결과물을 보니 정말 형편이 없어서 사실 블로그에 글을 올릴까 말까 고민을 많이 했다. 그래도 내 블로그이니 기억의 보존을 위해 올려본다.

 

It's been years since I last took pictures with a camera, so I've lost my sense of photography. As a result, when I looked at the photos I took, they were so bad that I debated whether or not to post them on my blog. Still, since it's my blog, I'm posting them for the sake of preserving my memories.
