After visiting Turku Cathedral, I asked a local on the street if he could recommend a place to see in Turku.
He thought for a while and recommended 'Saaronniemen uimaranta' to me.
In hindsight, I can see why he thought long and hard. Turku, like other Finnish cities, is not a great tourist destination.
As a Finn living in Finland, most of the places were no different from any other city.

Anyway, I drove off and headed to 'Saaronniemen uimaranta'. 'Saaronniemen uimaranta' was an island west of downtown Turku.

'Saaronniemen uimaranta' is circled in red on the map.

A lot of the snow that had fallen yesterday was piled up all over the island.

It was an ordinary place, just like any other Finnish forest.

I parked and walked along the path, taking in the scenery in a relaxing way. There were a lot of people fishing.

As I reached the end of the island, I saw a large bird, possibly a swan, flap its wings and descend to the water's edge.
If only I had arrived a minute earlier, I could have captured the scene, but as usual, the goddess of luck was not on my side.
Still, I am satisfied that I was able to see the spectacle with my own eyes.

The good news is that I brought my telephoto lens, which I don't usually carry, and was able to capture these shots.

I captured a bird hunting a fish, but I couldn't get a picture of it successfully catching it.

Thank you for visiting my blog and reading the article.
