Here was rank last destination my 4 day of Jejudo travel. Sky was full cloud and raindrops had driped sometimes.

I had thought that new things and old things may be accomplishing creation well what it is here. Because it is never easy that shake off temptation of urbanization gone very fast with special quality that is island. Place that I had gone in May had expectation about it that very many people had lived in traditional environment. However, the hope is broken as is cool. Everybody wants to live conveniently. It need many sacrifice sometimes that live in tradition house.

This is very subjective my impression. But this place was very nonexistent than my way of thinking.

I have contradictory ideas about that someone visits here individually. I am going to show the several pictures and movie. Is sad, but it is limit.

about Seongeup Folk Village

In the past when Jeju was divided into three Hyeon s (1410-1914), Seongeup-ri was the capital of Jeongeui-hyeon and preserved the characteristics of mid-mountain village of east Jeju. It has been protected by virtue of being designated as a Folk Village. It has preserved the characteristics of the lifestyle and context of the Jeju people with various tangible and intangible cultural properties.
Tangible cultural properties such as Hyangkyo, Ilgwanheon, thatched roof houses, stone -grandfathers, Seongji, Yeonjama (a millstone worked by ox), the site of ancient administration buildings, and stone monuments make a fascinating study. Intangible properties unique to mid-mountain villages including folk songs, foods, craftwork, and provincialism have also been preserved and handed down.
The people of Seongeup-ri live in the traditional houses that are maintained by the village community to provide a service for visitors.
The zelkova tree and hackberry tree, designated as Natural Monument No. 161,stand in the center of the village that showcases the history of the 500 year old capital city.

about Choga (Thatch-roofed House)

Thatch-roofed houses can still found in the corners of some villages in Jeju. Due to the development of an architecture geared toward a more convenient lifestyle, however, they are hard to find. In particular, the Choga villages in the Jeju Folk Village and Seongeup Folk Village are some of the best examples.
A neat stone fence is piled up around the house. Once the Jeongnang (wooden poles that represent the front gate of the house) is passed, a real hometown warmth can be felt.

The Jeju Folk Village has restored a traditional Jeju village, which has been used as a TV drama location (ex: Daejanggeum). The traditional Jeju citizens’ simple, humane lifestyle can be observed. The Seongeup Folk Village once was the seat of Jeongeui-hyeon when Jeju was divided into only three Hyeons. The town owns a great many tangible and intangible assets. Today, people still live in choga homes. In the village, the Jeju tradition is alive and well (ex: fortress, Hyanggyo (Confucian academy), Halmangdang (shrine of the grandmothers), etc.)

Scientific name is Sus scrofa.

This pig is tradition pig of our country. Because is transmissive to Jejudo very long ago, is thought that lived by aboriginality species. Because the growth speed is slow relatively than select breeds now, disappeared mostly. However, meat's quality is superior and very tasty.

Speak that this pig grew up beneath toilet once upon a time. This pig had fed person's excrement because taste is good and strong in disease. However, fed most pig feeds now.

It was not easy that Jejudo gets special quality water of island. Method that can get water most easily and conveniently uses rainwater. Jejudo gets a fine equipment that use rainwater.
