Tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte (나폴레옹의 무덤)

Napoleon's tomb is a must-see for any tourist visiting Paris. It's located alongside the War Museum, which is a great place to visit if you have a museum pass. If you're on a tight schedule, I recommend skipping the War Museum and visiting the Napoleon Museum.

 

Napoleon's tomb (French: tombeau de Napoléon) is the monument erected at Les Invalides in Paris to keep the mortal remains of Napoleon following their repatriation to France from Saint Helena in 1840, or retour des cendres, at the initiative of Louis Philippe I and his minister Adolphe Thiers.

It's even more famous for having been visited by Adolf Hitler.

There's something majestic about a towering structure. The entire building you see here houses Napoleon's tomb, and you can't see it in the photo, but the buildings behind it are used as a war museum.

 

This is the first thing you see when you walk in the entrance. (Note that this photo was taken from the inside, facing the entrance, after walking through the doorway.) In the center is Napoleon's tomb.

 

 

In fact, the first thing you'll notice as you walk in the entrance is this sculpture on the exact opposite side of the entrance. If you go to the back of that sculpture, there are stairs leading down.

 

 

If you come to the back of the sculpture we saw earlier, you'll see a staircase leading down to this.

It doesn't take much time to explore the whole place after visiting. I'd say about 30 to 40 minutes to take your time and explore the whole place.
