[ I came with traveling the country that wind lives ]

When I had gone to Jeju-Do(island) finally, it was December, 1998. I had gone there to enjoy the last vacation of military service with my military-mate. And I was discharged from military service at December 31, 1998.
When I leave Chejudo that time, I had pledged that I am going to visit Jeju-Do sometime again.

Most people do not like winter travel. And because most of people who do winter travel serve to enjoy winter sports. So, in the year winter, the travelers are few in Jeju-Do.

My most favorite season is the winter. However, in winter, it is never easy that travel.
Anyway, I had tried to have an opportunity that can revisit Jeju-Do. However, began to from military service and study university and graduate school and that travel Jeju-Do when began to have profession had been felt as is impossible almost. Must have time more than minimum 3 day to travel Jeju-Do, but an opportunity to capacitate it did not call on easily. And first of all, need expense that is not less.

Perhaps, I think that this Jeju-Do travel may be last Jeju-Do travel of my life. I had planed to go travel to Europe originally. However, I give up Europe travel for various kinds reason and came on travel to Jeju-Do for 10 days.
Usually, people think that it may be very easy that travel Jeju-Do living in Korea. However, it is more difficult than ideas. Jeju-Do must use the airplane or ship because is island. Nevertheless, korean people do not go well to Jeju-Do.
Why? The reason is simple unexpectedly. If is expense that can travel Jeju-Do, because is near to expense that can travel southeast Asia.

When I was young, I was learned in school about that three tings are many in Jeju-Do.
It is wind and stone and woman.
Because Jeju is island geographically, there are much winds. And there are much stones because is island that is made by volcano activity. And because Jeju lived by fishery since ancient times, most men ride ship and had done fishery activity. And many fishermens lost life. So, woman's population density is high relatively.
Of course, is different now. Many people left to the land earn money.
Nevertheless, two things are many still in Jeju. It is stone and wind.
Jeju is Korean unique place that is made by volcano activity. And it may be very peculiar place in all over the world.
If I do not leave the South Korea until 40 years old, I am likely to live in Jeju-Do.
Jeju has very peculiar climate and environment than Korean other places. It may be timewaster only that it explains to people who do not feel it.

I am writing a book about my travels now.
And my main title is 'I came with traveling the country that wind lives'.
I came meeting the best wind living my life so far.
And I am writting beginning of travel book for my 10 days so.

내가 마지막으로 제주도를 찾은 것은 1998년 12월 이였다. 나는 나의 군대 동기들과 군생활의 마지막 휴가를 즐기기 위해 그곳을 갔었다. 그리고 나는 1998년 12월 31일에 제대했다.
내가 그때 제주도를 떠날 때 나는 언젠가 다시 제주도를 방문할 것이라고 다짐했었다.

대부분의 사람들은 겨울 여행을 좋아하지 않는다. 그리고 겨울 여행을 하는 사람들의 대부분은 겨울 스포츠를 즐기기 위해서이다. 그래서 그 해 겨울에 제주도에는 여행객들이 적었다.

내가 가장 좋아하는 계절은 겨울이다. 하지만 겨울에 여행하는 것은 결코 쉽지 않다.
어쨌든 나는 제주도를 다시 방문할 수 있는 기회를 갖기 위해 노력했었다. 하지만 제대를 하고, 대학교와 대학원에서 공부하기 시작했고, 그리고 직업을 갖기 시작했을 때 제주도를 여행하는 것은 거의 불가능하게 느껴졌었다.
제주도를 여행하기 위해 최소한 3일 이상의 시간을 갖어야 하지만 그것을 가능하게 하기 위한 기회는 쉽게 찾아오지 않았다. 그리고 무엇보다 적지 않은 비용이 필요했다.

아마도 이번 제주도 여행은 내 인생의 마지막 제주도 여행일 것이라고 생각한다. 원래 나는 유럽으로 여행을 가려고 계획했었다. 하지만 나는 여러가지 이유로 유럽여행을 포기하고 10일 동안 제주도로 여행을 갔다왔다.
일반적으로 한국에 살면서 제주도를 여행하는 것이 매우 쉬울 것이라고 생각한다. 하지만 그것은 생각보다 더 어렵다. 제주도는 섬이기 때문에 비행기나 배를 이용해야한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 한국인들은 제주도는 잘 가지 않는다.
왜일까? 그 이유는 의외로 간단하다. 제주도를 여행할 수 있는 비용이면 동남아시아를 여행할 수 있는 비용에 가깝기 때문이다.

내가 어렸을 때 나는 학교에서 제주도는 세가지가 많은 곳이라고 배웠다.
그것은 바람과 돌과 여자이다.
지리적으로 제주도는 섬이기 때문에 바람이 많다. 그리고 화산활동으로 만들어진 섬이기 때문에 돌이 많다. 그리고 옛날부터 제주도는 어업으로 생활했기 때문에 대부분의 남자들은 배를 타고 어업활동을 했었다. 그리고 많은 어부들이 목숨을 잃었다. 그래서 상대적으로 여성의 인구밀도가 높다.
물론, 지금은 다르다. 많은 사람들이 돈을 벌기 위해 육지로 떠났다.
그럼에도 불구하고 제주도에는 여전히 두가지는 많이 있다. 그것은 돌과 바람이다.
제주는 화산 활동으로 만들어진 한국의 유일한 장소이다. 그리고 그것은 전 세계에서 매우 독특한 장소일 것이다.
내가 40세까지 한국을 떠나지 못한다면 나는 제주도에서 살 것 같다.
제주도는 한국의 다른 장소들보다 매우 독특한 기후와 환경을 갖고 있다. 그것은 그것을 느껴보지 못한 사람들에게 설명하는 것은 단지 시간 낭비일 뿐일지도 모른다.
